How It Started
I've spent most of my life outdoors: camping, hunting, fishing, offroading. And for most of that time I dealt with the same problem, comms that just didn't do what I needed.
I first came across Meshtastic a while back and honestly thought it was a toy. Cool tech, not much obvious use. Then I drove out to a run-and-gun competition in southwest Texas, right on the Mexican border. Eight guys spread across a course, zero cell signal, and nobody had any way to know where anyone else was. If something went wrong, you were on your own. Just radio silence.
For my next competition in Leakey, out in the Texas Hill Country, I built a node for every guy on the team. Just a test. I wasn't even sure it would matter. Then the competition started.
Suddenly I had live locations. Real comms. Peace of mind I hadn't had before. That was the moment I knew I was on to something.
I knew that if I was going to turn this into something, I had to be different. There are plenty of people selling Meshtastic nodes, but most of them require a bunch of configuration and assume you already have a phone you're willing to take out in the elements. What I'm offering is entirely turnkey: an Android device already set up with ATAK, maps preloaded for whatever locations you need, channels and encryption configured before it ships. Everything works straight out of the box. You pay once, there are no subscriptions, and you don't have to touch a settings menu. I take the headache out of it and back every unit with world-class customer service. That's the business OffGrid Operator is in.

What the OffGrid Operator Name Means
When you see the OffGrid Operator name on a product, that means something. I designed it, I built it, and I tested it in the field. Every node that ships has been through my hands personally. This is not a dropship operation.
I believe in this gear. I use it myself and I'd put it in the hands of my own team without a second thought. That's the standard I hold every build to, and it's the reason I stand behind every unit that leaves here.
We take build quality and customer service seriously. If something isn't right, you're not dealing with a support ticket or a warehouse. You're talking to the person who built it. That's the commitment that comes with the OffGrid Operator name.
